When 25-year old Liberian attorney, Madia Tailgate gets engaged to the youngest cabinet minister, she thinks her life could not be more secure. But Madia�s security is suddenly shattered when her peaceful native land falls to a bloody military coup d�etat. Madia, rescued by her American godfather has to start a new life. Her only quest is to find her missing twin brother, whose remains were never found, and whom she believes survived the massacre that claimed the lives of her parents, friends, family and fianc�.

Madia begins life in New York City, struggling to cope with all she has just experienced. She vacations with her godfather in St. Lucia, a trip that opens up a new page to her life.
