About Angela M. Peabody

Twenty years of extensive travel has afforded this Liberian novelist a unique overview of the world. Her career as a travel agent has taken her to some of the world’s most exotic locations. Knowing that seeing is believing, Angela M. Peabody stresses the importance of venturing outside of our geographical comfort zones. The world is wide and broad, but the electronic age changed the inaccessibility of information forever. We now can get a glimpse of other cultures by clicking a mouse. Still, nothing compares to the actual stimuli that traveling can allows.

Angela’s passion to educate the world about the cultures, traditions and lifestyles of others started early in life. Her brilliance was evident even as a child. By age five she could recite the entire Liberian constitution. Her writing skills emerged in poems, short stories and plays. Her career as a journalist / broadcaster came as no surprise to anybody that knew her.

Life changed dramatically, when Liberia faced a bloody coup d’ etat. Angela fled Liberia with two small sons and little else. Yet, her determination remained unchanged. The post traumatic stress of the coup proved very difficult to overcome. Nightmares and depression became constant companions. So she picked up her pen to release the pain. Never could she have guessed that her journal would give birth to a novel.

Exile: Within of the heart of American society evolved into a novel. . It was during a casual conversation with her son Arnold DeShield, that Angela realized that she had a book on her hands. Assuring his mother that this was not only a book, but a very good one, Angela decided to search for an agent. After receiving a barrage of rejections, she self-published Exiled and literary history was born. Angela M. Peabody became the first Liberian woman publish a novel. Understanding now, that she must promote the book, she sought the assistance of a publicist. After an unfortunate failed attempt, she met Carol King-Brooks on the World Wide Web. From that day on, her life has shifted out neutral and into the literary fast lane. Using every skill in her arsenal, her publicist knocked on doors promoting Angela M. Peabody relentlessly. One speaking engagement turned into a whirlwind international tour. Angela has the ability to set a turn a crowd on its ear with her passionate delivery. A polished, professional always, made her an easy and natural choice for invitations to keynote events. Still, her passion to educate the world about the world remained unrealized.

It was again during a midnight brain storm that her publicist suggested she produce a magazine. The idea sparked and GLOBAL WOMAN MAGAZINE became the task of the day. Many, many hours of hard work paid off. The pilot issue is now in distribution. The first full issue will hit the stands in August. GW is a multicultural magazine that endeavors to be the voice of every woman. Subscriptions are available for $10.00 per year and $18.00 for two. Angela is preparing to conduct a series of workshops that will address a myriad of subjects. One of those subjects is English as a second language. After reading about the language barriers between the teachers and African students in her area, Angela sprang to action. Combining her journalism skills with her adult education training, she created a comprehensive teaching curriculum for her weekly courses. She is available to conduct classes in churches, community centers and for private organizations.
